PIANO ~ UKULELE ~ GUITAR ~ VOICE
As a music teacher, I try to create a nurturing environment where students of all ages are empowered to learn and grow not just as musicians who intend to pursue a career in music, but as human beings who appreciate and recognize the infinite beauty of music.
COVID-19 UPDATE May 2021: I am fully vaccinated and am currently accepting students for in-person lessons in my home studio in Northwest Omaha or for virtual lessons on Zoom. I also teach at the Omaha School of Music and Dance.
For VOICE (ages 7+), I teach classical vocal technique to students of all ability levels. With my youngest students (7-11), we focus on learning new songs and developing good posture and breathing habits. With my older students (junior high through adult), we work on age- and interest-appropriate rep (drawing from western art song, early music, opera, and classic musical theater). If basic musicianship skills aren’t already present, a portion of each lesson will be spent learning to read music in addition to singing in harmony, studying vocal technique, and exploring repertoire.
For PIANO (ages 5+), I work with beginners through late intermediate levels, starting with students in kindergarten up through adult. Younger students may be considered if they have begun learning to read. Student will learn to read music, study common practice period repertoire and basic music theory, and develop the musicianship skills to work with lead sheets and lyric sheets, to transpose, and to compose.
For UKULELE, including baritone, (ages 5+), I work with beginners and intermediates, starting with those in elementary school up through adult. Students will learn chords, strumming and picking patterns, scales, how to interpret lyric and lead sheets, as well as how to read music and tablature. For those students with smaller hands who want to learn the guitar, baritone ukulele is a great alternative to start out with.
For GUITAR, (ages 7+), I work with beginners, starting with those in elementary school up through adult. Students will learn chords, strumming and picking patterns, scales, how to interpret lyric and lead sheets, as well as how to read music and tablature. Acoustic/classical guitar only.
